You should water it only when the compost is dry.
Also if you think the water doesn't reache where it needs, you can try to put all bonsai pot into some tank with water.

Hello Marcus,

I 'rescued' a very sick looking bonsai today from a nursery. It's my first bonsai and I really hope you can help me to save it.

It is the same variety as Liane's - ligustrum sinense - and it has the same shrivelled leaves. I have cut some of the branches and they are still green on the inside, so I still have hope!

Can you tell me whether there is anything I should do for the plant to help it survive?

I have snipped off all the dead leaves and have given it a good soak in water and allowed it to drain (it was very dry). Should I fertilise it?

Kim.

Hello,

Are you having problems with your bonsai?

If you think your bonsai is sick, compare its symptoms with the following list of more common problems.
1. Leaves are turning pale yellow and dropping off.
2. Leaves are mottled with yellow, brown and black spots.
3. Leaves are green, but crispy.
4. Leaves are pale green to yellow and new shoots are long and spindly.
5. Leaves are going black or brown, starting at the tips and slowly working down the leaf.

No, Bonsai are not difficult to care for. They must be checked daily so that they do not dry out and provided that they are kept in the correct position they should thrive.

Bonsai are not expensive if you consider the amount of time required to grow them. It takes years of styling to produce even the smallest and simplest of bonsai. The price of the bonsai simply reflects the skill involved and the amount of work and time to produce it.

If you to want to get more information about the respective or any other topic you can visit bonsaioutlet.com site. I have referred the sites to too many friends and they are highly satisfied with the service level of that company.
Thanks.
